Is Molini Italy Europe’s hardest mountain biking destination? This week, we pushed ourselves—and our biking limits—on the steep, rocky slopes of one of the most infamous MTB destinations in the world: Molini di Triora, Italy.
🏔 What Is Molini?
Molini is a tiny mountain village nestled in the Ligurian Alps, just a short distance from the Italian Riviera. Most people haven’t even heard of it, but mountain bikers in the know say it’s one of the best places on Earth to ride.
We’re here to find out if that’s true.
Spoiler: it’s gnarly. It’s beautiful. And it pushed us hard.
🙌 Guided by the Pros at MoliniMTB.com
Big thanks to the crew at MoliniMTB.com for guiding us through some of the most incredible (and at times, terrifying) terrain we’ve ever ridden. Their local knowledge, shuttle support, and all-around good vibes made this day one to remember.
If you’re considering a trip to Molini, we 100% recommend riding with them.
📦 The Mission: Bikes, Food, and Some Seriously Steep Trails
Getting to Molini was half the challenge. After an incredible week of riding in Madeira, we boxed our bikes, navigated ferries and airports, and finally made it to this secluded Italian town. From there, the adventure kicked off fast.
On Day 1:
- We hunted down some of the best food in Europe 🍝 (so much pasta… so much joy).
- We rolled through stunning Italian mountain views 🌄
- And we got absolutely humbled by steep, loose, rocky trails that tested every ounce of skill and control.
“I couldn’t even brake… it was terrifying!” – direct quote from the trail 😂
🔧 Curious About Our Bikes + Gear?
We’ve gotten a ton of questions about what we’re riding and using on trips like this.

💬 Final Thoughts on Day 1 in Molini
Molini hits different. The terrain is raw. The village is quiet. The descents are long and wild. It’s not for the faint of heart—but if you love technical trails and want an MTB destination that few riders ever get to experience… put it on your list.
