While driving through Reno we were recommended to ride at Peavine Mountain, and the Halo Trail.
The ride started off great! We found a nice big parking lot with other Sprinter Vans looming around (always a good sign!). When getting into the climb it was gradual with only a few loose rocky sections.
When we found the Halo Trail at Peavine Mountain we were feeling good and ready for the downhill. It felt like we had done enough climbing on the mountain bikes for the day!
Unfortunately, we went the wrong direction on the Halo Trail and about 5 extra miles to our Peavine Mountain exploration. It’s all good, we needed the time on our bikes anyway.
Once we corrected our mishap and found the Halo Trail (in the correct direction), things got even more spicy!
The Halo Trail is rated as a black diamond, but we would rate it more of a blue. You should be aware that it can get quite windy up on the top of old Peavine Mountain!
And, not to our enjoyment, we experienced the wind first hand! It actually felt pretty unsafe with how hard it was blowing us around on our mountain bikes. It was blowing SO hard we even came off our bikes at one point.
Make good decisions out there!
