After five days of chasing flow, chunk, and sunshine, we had one more chance to squeeze every last drop out of Madeira’s mountain biking magic.
This was our final ride — and the island wasn’t about to let us leave easy. We teamed up with Radwall Madeira one last time for what turned into a private shuttle day, and let’s just say: they brought the heat.
🚐 Private Shuttle, Big Stoke
There’s something awesome about rolling out with just your crew. No crowds. No waiting. Just bikes loaded, coffee in hand, and a full lineup of technical descents ahead.
We were heading to the Middle East part of the island, an area we hadn’t ridden yet — and it delivered in spades. Blues, reds, even blacks. And not the flowy, mellow kind… the real-deal, hold-on-tight stuff.

🌧️ Madera Ice & Mud-Slicked Madness
We kicked things off with what was supposed to be a warm-up trail — but Madeira had other plans. The roots were super slick, the mud was unpredictable, and we got our first taste of what the locals call Madera Ice. No traction. No forgiveness. Just sliding and laughing and somehow making it to the bottom.
The next few trails didn’t get any easier. In fact, we hit what might’ve been the most technical line of the entire trip — a nonstop rock-fest with drops, step-ups, and a rhythm that felt more like a survival game than a bike ride. But it was awesome. So, so awesome.
😅 End-of-Trip Legs, Full-Stoke Hearts
By the time we hit trail #8, our legs were smoked. The adrenaline had been replaced by that end-of-trip mix of exhaustion and deep satisfaction. You know the one — where every bump feels a little bigger, every berm a little deeper, but you’re grinning ear to ear the whole way down.

🏁 Saying Goodbye to Madeira (For Now)
Wrapping this trip wasn’t easy. Madeira surprised us every single day — with its views, its trail diversity, its weather (yep, we got it all), and the good vibes from locals and the Radwall crew. It’s the kind of place that gets under your skin — and into your trail dreams.
If you’re thinking about mountain biking in Madeira, do it. Just pack extra brake pads, expect a few crashes, and get ready for some of the rowdiest, most beautiful trails in Europe.
