If you’ve been following our brake testing journey, you know we’ve spent a ton of time on TRP brakes over the last few years. I’ve ridden the DHR EVOs on everything from big alpine descents to steep, loose enduro tracks, and they’ve been one of my go-to setups for reliable, predictable braking.
But now TRP has dropped the EVO Pro, and I’ve had these brakes on my bike for long enough to give you the real verdict — not just a first impression, and not a quick comparison. This is what the EVO Pros feel like after months of riding, wrenching, adjusting, and pushing them on all kinds of terrain.
Let’s dive in.
🔧 What’s New With the TRP EVO Pro?
The EVO Pros don’t completely reinvent the wheel. TRP didn’t overhaul the entire brake platform — they made refinements where they mattered most, and those refinements are what this long-term review focuses on.
After months of testing, here’s what really stands out.
1. Lever Feel — The Biggest Upgrade
The lever on the EVO Pro is easily the biggest improvement over the previous TRP models. You feel it instantly.
It’s more solid.
More premium.
More confidence-inspiring when you’re smashing down steep, blown-out terrain.
If you’re picky about lever feel (like I am), this is the change you’ll appreciate the most. It just feels right in your hands, and after months of riding, that consistency hasn’t faded at all.
2. Tool-Free Pad Adjust — Surprisingly Useful
I’ll be honest: I thought this was just a flashy feature when I first saw it.
But after a few days of riding different terrain, I found myself reaching for that tool-free pad adjust more than expected — especially on steeper trails where I wanted a shorter throw or tighter bite point.
It’s quick.
It’s intuitive.
And it’s one of those features you don’t think you need… until you have it.
On the DHR EVOs, you can make similar adjustments, but it requires tools and a bit more fiddling. With the EVO Pros, it’s done in seconds.
3. Power & Modulation — Just as Good as Ever
This is important:
The EVO Pros do not add extra power over the DHR EVOs.
But the good news?
The power they do have is excellent — and incredibly predictable.
The modulation is smooth.
The feel is consistent.
There’s no weird bite point drift.
Nothing changes after long days on steep descents.
It’s the same TRP braking performance I already knew and trusted, just with refinements that make it nicer to use.

4. Long-Term Reliability — Rock Solid
Here’s where these brakes shine for me. After months of riding:
- No fade
- No lever inconsistencies
- No unwanted sponginess
- No mid-season bleeds needed
- No random failures
They’ve stayed incredibly consistent.
And that’s exactly what you want from a set of enduro brakes — reliability you don’t have to think about.

💬 So… Are the TRP EVO Pros Worth It?

Here’s my honest long-term verdict:
If you already own the DHR EVOs:
You don’t need to upgrade unless you really want that improved lever feel or the convenience of the tool-free pad adjust.
The performance difference is not huge.
If you’re buying brakes right now:
I’d choose the EVO Pros.
Not because they’re massively more powerful — but because they’re simply nicer to use day-to-day, and that lever upgrade feels great on trail.
If lever feel is your top priority:
Get the EVO Pros.
This is the biggest improvement and the reason these brakes stand out long-term.
If your budget is tight:
DHR EVOs are still fantastic.
You’re not missing out on significant braking performance.
⭐ Final Verdict
The TRP EVO Pros are a refined, ultra-consistent version of an already great brake platform. After months of riding, what stands out is how predictable and confidence-inspiring they remain — with a premium lever feel that sets them apart from the older TRP lineup.
They’re not a “must-upgrade” product…
But they are a truly excellent brake.
If you’re buying new, go EVO Pro.
If you’ve already got DHR EVOs, enjoy them — they’re still outstanding.
