If you’ve been following our mountain biking journey, you know we’re always hunting for the next level bike park. We’ve ridden all over North America—and a few other continents—and I think I’ve found my new favorite: Sun Peaks Bike Park.
Yup, I said it. If I’ve got the time to drive, I’ll choose Sun Peaks over Whistler every time. Here’s why…
Where is Sun Peaks?
Sun Peaks is located about 40 minutes north of Kamloops, British Columbia. In the summer it operates as a full-service lift-access bike park, and in the winter it transforms into a ski resort.
If you’re vanlifing or road-tripping around BC, it’s an easy detour—and well worth the stop.

The Vibe
Let’s start here, because vibes matter.
The energy at Sun Peaks is chill, friendly, and welcoming. From the lift ops to the trail crew to fellow riders—it just feels good being here. It’s not overcrowded, and everyone seems stoked to be on the mountain.
Whistler can feel… hectic. Sun Peaks? Like you’re in on a hidden gem.
The Trails (And That Jump Progression!)
Sun Peaks has a solid mix of tech, flow, and jump trails—but what really sets it apart is the jump line progression.
In fact, I’d argue it has better progression trails than Whistler if you’re looking to build skills and boost your confidence.
Start with Stella Blue—a blue-rated jump trail that is hands-down the most fun jump line I’ve ever ridden. Smooth lips, perfect landings, and flow that makes you feel like a superhero.
And once you’re dialed on that, it leads straight into the bigger lines. It’s like they designed the park specifically to help you level up.

The Camping
Sun Peaks offers RV and tent camping right in the main parking lot, and it’s way better than you’d expect.
You don’t just get a patch of pavement—you get a proper site with space, a picnic table, and some trees for shade. It’s only $25 CAD/night, which is an absolute steal in the world of ski resort parking lot camping.
For vanlifers like us, it’s one of the most convenient and pleasant setups we’ve experienced.
The Village
Sun Peaks Village is small, but it has everything you need: solid coffee shops, restaurants, and even three bike shopswith rentals and repair services.
You can grab a great espresso in the morning, lap the park all day, and have a decent dinner without moving your rig. That’s a win.

The Verdict
Sun Peaks is underrated, incredibly fun, and built with progression in mind. It’s affordable, friendly, and the trails are just plain good.
If you’re planning a BC bike trip—don’t sleep on Sun Peaks. And if you’ve only got one park to hit this summer… you might just skip the crowds and choose the better vibes up here.
